After the buff-tailed (Bombus terrestris) and the tree bumblebee (Bombus hypnorum) queens of more than three weeks ago, yesterday I saw my first red-tailed queen (Bombus lapidarius).
And just now I came across the first common carder bee (Bombus pascuorum) of the year. Like the rest of us I expect she is hoping for warmer weather.
