Close encounters

A beautiful male emperor dragonfly, encountered this morning.  Normally I see them flying high and fast and they are then almost impossible to photograph.  This one was very relaxed and posed for a shoot lasting 15 minutes or so.  It was basking in the sun and occasionally wiping its eyes with a front leg.  It was happy with close-ups from <5cm and a video on the iPhone.  You can judge its size in comparison to my hand.  Eventually it flew away and 10m farther along the hedge there was another one (bottom photo).  Amazing.
